Opening of the Exhibition at the Holy Spirit Convent in Loulé | Abertura da Exposição no Convento Espírito Santo em Loulé

On a day of torrential rain, I welcomed the Mayor of Loulé and all the friends and strangers who wished to give me the honor of their presence despite the adverse conditions. Thank you all.
Num dia de chuva torrencial, recebi com prazer o Senhor Presidente da Câmara de Loulé e todos os amigos e desconhecidos que quiseram dar-me a honra da sua presença apesar das condições adversas.

The creation of my pieces starts with the observation of the complex relations established between phenomena as diverse as nature’s fertility, man made objects, music or art history. It’s an intimate work in search of integrating conflicting forces, ultimately leading to the transmutation of the parts in to a transcending whole. The shape contains in it self the memory of the evolution from one condition to another in a process of transformation that is at the same time natural, personal and cultural.

A concepção das minhas peças parte da observação e da abstracção das relações que se estabelecem entre fenómenos tão diversos como a fertilidade da natureza, objectos de construção humana, a musica ou a história da Arte. É um trabalho íntimo que busca integrar forças em conflito e que conduz à transmutação das partes num todo que as transcende. A forma guarda a memória da evolução de uma condição para outra, num processo de transformação que é pessoal, natural e cultural.
