Kanchipuram - The City of Thousand Temples

Kanchipuram was the historical capital of the Pallavas from the 7th to the 9th centuries and is one of the seven sacred cities of India. Also known as The City of Thousand Temples.

Arjuna's Penance

The Arjuna's Penance was built by the Pallava kings in the 7th and 8th centuries. The legend depicted in the relief is the story of the descent of the sacred river Ganges to earth from the heavens led by Bhagiratha.

Thirukkalukundram | Eagle Temple

The town is famous for its Hindu temple, Vedagiriswarar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

There are 565 steps that lead to the temple and the way up is real steep but worth it. The temple, known for a famed pair of eagles traditionally fed by the priests is very special and the view up there is breath taking.
